1. We create our own clothing patterns. We combine the handmade technique of screen printing and individual tailoring of each garment. We love clean lines and roomy garments that provide comfort and freedom.
2. We print each garment piece by piece before manufacturing. It is an artisanal, manual and wonderful process that requires a lot of love and patience.
3. The only trends we follow are our own. Algodón Peinado reflejcts of our love for art, design, music, cinema… Creativity is our passion.
4.We always use natural fabrics, cotton and organic cotton, which do not release micro plastics into the oceans when washed. We try to make our garments as sustainable as possible.
5. We focus on quality above all else. Our garments are pleasant against your skin and very durable, if you treat them with a little pampering they will accompany you for a long, long time. They are not garments to be used and thrown away, but to be worn a thousand and one times.
6. We work with manufacturers committed to sustainability, which implies decent working conditions, quality raw materials and careful manufacturing processes.
7. We have our workshop in a small town in Badajoz. A place where life slows down and where we can unleash our creativity
8. When the clothing is more elaborate, we have on small workshops in the area, thus supporting the development of the local economy and doing our bit to make villages once again places where people can live and work.
9.For our collections wecollaborate with different illustrators. We adapt the illustrations to the pattern of each garment.
10. Our collections are always limited, once they are sold out they are not produced again. They are timeless and versatile designs. We do not follow the dictates of fashion, which demands constant production of garments.
Who is behind Algodón Peinado?
Laura is the «tousled cotton» of the tandem. Indecisive, although resolute, from a very young age she used to tinker with her mother’s sewing machine and make her own clothes. She studied Administration and Finance and after working in different companies she decided to move to Valencia to pursue what she had always been passionate about: fashion design. When she finished her studies she was chosen as «Best Young Designer of the Valencian Community». As fate would have it, she met Juan Carlos at a fair where each of them participated with their own brand. From there to Algodón Peinado there was only one step. Laura is responsible for the design of the collection, clothing and contact with suppliers and customers.
Juan Carlos is the «most combed cotton», tidy, meticulous and with everything under control. He was one of those kids who spent the day drawing, he even painted his T-shirts with the titles of movies, music groups or illustrations he liked. With his first computer and printer, he would make stencils that he would then cut out and paste on the T-shirts to create prints.
He studied Editorial Design and Production, and after working for others as a designer and art director, he decided to set up his own screen printing workshop. Juan Carlos is in charge of the design of the prints and the graphic and silkscreen research to reproduce ideas, sketches, designs and illustrations on textiles.
